WLO Veteran Andrew Barone will be leading the WLO Cycling Team on a 545-mile ride across California next month to help raise funds to fight against HIV/AIDS.
The ride, organized by AIDS/Lifecycle, is scheduled to take place from June 2, 2019 to June 8, 2019, and will be from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
Barone, a retired Marine Gunnery Sergeant, did two Combat tours in Iraq during the Iraq War and says of participating in the AIDS/Life Cycle fundraiser that his “desire to serve others didn’t end when [his] time in the military did.”
In addition to helping serve the AIDS community in their struggle to eradicate the disease, which Barone believes is possible in his lifetime, he says he is also riding to raise awareness about PTSD, a mental disease from which he suffers and is learning to overcome. Barone hopes to play a role in fighting the stigma associated with it.
Barone is actively seeking sponsors for his upcoming ride and is asking that supporter make donations at: www.tofighthiv.org/goto/barone.
